Конак Кнегиње Љубице, Konak of Princess Ljubica

Једна од
најлепших зграда свога времена, Конак Кнегиње Љубице, подигнута је по налогу Кнеза Милоша. Градњу је извео неимар Хаџи-Никола Живковић. One of the most beautiful buildings of its time the Kоnak of Princess Ljubica was raised by order of Prince Milos. It was erected by the constructor Hadzi - Nikola Zivkovic.

Налази се на Косанчићевом венцу који представља споменички амбијент старог Београда. Изградња Конака започета је 1829.године а завршена је 1831 године. Исте године у Конак се уселила Кнегиња Љубица Обреновић са синовима Миланом и Михајлом. У њему је провела једанаест година. 1842. године је насилно исељена после чега је Кoнак служио у разне сврхе. Када је 1972. године из њега исељен Завод за заштиту споменика културе Србије, приступило се темељној реконструкцији зграде. Пошто се Београд у време подизања Конака налазио између две велике империје, Цариграда и Беча, истока и запада зграда по архитектонској композицији и распореду просторија припада балканском стилу са извесним западњачким барокним елементима. Садашње унутрашње уређење представља изглед београдских кућа у периоду од изградње Конака до пред крај деветнаестог века. Када је 1867.године Али Риза Паша предао кључеве Београда Кнезу Михајлу Обреновићу, почиње његова реконструкција и Београд све више добија изглед средњоевропског града.
It is located at Kosancicev venac which is a monumental part of old Belgrade. The Konak started to be built in 1829 and its completion took place in 1832. In the same year Princess Ljubica Obrenovic moved in with her sons Milan and Mihajlo. She spent in it twelve years. In 1842 she was forced to leave the house and Konak was used for various purposes. When in 1972 the Institute for Protection of Monuments of Culture in Serbia moved out of the building its complete reconstruction could start. Since Belgrade was between two great empires, Constantinople and Vienna, east and west at the time when Kоnak was built according to architectural composition and arrangement of the rooms the building belongs to the Balkan style with some western baroque elements. Present interior of Konak presents appearance of Belgrade houses throughout 19th century. When in 1867 Ali Riza Pasha gave in the keys of Belgrade to Prince Mihajlo Obrenovic the reconstruction started and Belgrade was getting more and more an appearance of Middle Europe town.

When it was built Konak was surrounded by tall wall with great gates.


Зидана је за породични живот. Имала је велико двориште окренуто савској падини. У приземљу зграде доминира велика Диванхана резиденцијални део куће, у коју су примани гости. У њој се Дивани - разговара.
It was built for family life. It had a great yard facing river Sava. Large Divanhane (sitting room) dominates the ground floor. It was residential part of the house and guests were accepted in it. In this room people talk - Divane.


Седи се на полукружној сећији испред које је синија тј. сточић а бочно су ибрици и шкриње. У средишњем делу Диванхане постављена је пећ на жар - Мангал, експонат који датира из времена кад је Кнегиња Љубица живела у Конаку.
They sit on semicircle Secija in front of which there is low table Sinija. At the sides there are pots Ibrici and Shrines. In the middle of Divanhane there is a furnace with ember - Mangal, object from the time when Princess Ljubica lived in Konak.

Често су мушки гости боравили у доњој Диванхани и то се звало Селамлук да се не би мешали са женама које су се дружиле у диванхани на првом спрату куће (Миндерлук).

Often male guests were spending time at ground floor Divanhane and it was called Selamluk in order to avoid mixing with women who were socializing in a divanhane at the first floor of the house (Minderluk).

Поред Диванхане налази се соба Кнегиње Љубице са хамамом.
Next to Divanhane there is a room of Princess Ljubica and hamam.

Мало купатило или Хамамчик је једина просторија у кући која је задржала оригиналну боју.
Small bathroom Hamamcik is the only room in the house that has preserved original color.



Хамам је био грејан старим римским системом грејања купатила - Хипокауст. У мермерним плочама пода били су издубљени отвори кроз које се пуштала врела вода која је стварала неку врсту сауне.
Hamam (bathroom) was heated by old Roman system of bathroom heating - Hipokaust. There were holes made in a marble floor and the hot water was running through them making some kind of Sauna.


Кнегиња Љубица је умрла 1843.године у Новом Саду након одласка из Конака и сахрањена је у манастиру Крушедол на Фрушкој гори.
Princess Ljubica died in 1843. in Novi Sad after she left Konak and she was buried in a monastery Krusedol in Fruska Gora mountain.

Остале собе у кући опремљене су намештајем разних стилова који је припадао појединим богатијим београдским породицама.
Other rooms in the house are supplied with furniture of different styles, which belonged to some rich Belgrade families.


Турска соба, припадала је породици Денић - Животић. Павле Денић био је српски амбасадор у Цариграду у време владавине Краља Милана Обреновића. На зидовима нема портрета јер Ислам не дозвољава фигуралне представе. Украшени су оријенталним украсима.
Turkish room belonged to Denic -Zivotic family. Pavle Denic was a Serbian ambassador in Constantinople during King Milan Obrenovic reign. There are no portraits on the walls for Islam doesn't allow figure to be presented. Walls are decorated with oriental decorations.


Оригинални портрет Љубичине кћери Јелисавете (Савке) Обреновић који је 1845. године насликао Миклош Барабаш налази се у соби са намештајем у стилу касног бидермајера.
Original portrait of Princess Ljubica`s daughter Jelisaveta (Savka) Obrenovic made by Miklos Barabas could be seen in a room with late Biedermeier style furniture.



У једној од соба може се видети величанствен портрет Кнеза Михајла за кога кажу да је био леп, образован и веома заљубљиве природе. Портрет је урадио Јохан Бес 1860године.
In one of the rooms there is a magnificent portrait of Knez Mihajlo who was beautiful, educated and apparently of a very amorous nature. Portrait was made by Johan Bes (1860).





Многе сцене из серија Сеобе, Крај Династије Обреновић и филмова Сеобе, Зона Замфирова, Ивкова слава и Атентаторка Илка снимљене су у овој кући.

Суботом у подне може се "попити кафа са Кнегињом Љубицом". Обучена у одећу тог времена. Кустос музеја прича( у првом лицу)причу о животу Кнегиње Љубице. Дружење траје око један сат. Карте коштају 250 дин и могу се набавити у музеју. Музеј се налази у улуци Симе Марковића 8 (тел: 011/2638 264). Цена редовне улазнице је 100 дин а за децу 50 дин. Групе веће од 10 посетилаца имају попуст.
On Saturdays at noon you can "have a coffee with Princess Ljubica". Dressed in clothes from that period curator of the museum tells a story about Princess Ljubica`s life. Ticket costs 250 dinars and can be bought in a museum which is situated in Sime Markovica street no. 8 (tel: 011/2638 264). Regular ticket price is 100 dinars and for children ticket is 50 dinars. Groups of more than 10 people get discount.

Manastir Ostrog, Monastery Ostrog

Danas sam slucajno ponovo gledala slike sa letovanja i setila se odlaska u manastir Ostrog. Bilo je to fantasticno putovanje.

I was browsing through my holiday pictures today and I remembered a trip to the monastery Ostrog. It was fantastic voyage

Krenuli smo iz Tivta malo posle zore i vozili se do crnogorskih planina oko dva sata. Nismo isli poslednjih nekoliko kilometara peske uz sumsku stazu, sto bi inace bio red, vec nas je kombi uspeo uz uzan strm put. Ambisi pokraj puta izgledaju jezivo... mozda je ipak bilo bolje ici peske. A i stigli smo otprilike u isto vreme kad i pesaci.

We started from seaside town Tivat (which is situated in Boka Kotorska bay in Montenegro) just after the dawn and drove to mountains for about two hours. We didn`t walked for last few kilometres up the woods (which is the proper way to make pilgrimage to this very special place) but a van brought us up the steep narrow dusty road. Abyss by the road looks creepy... maybe it was better to go on foot. We anyway arrived at the same time as walkers that we passed by up the road.

Usput smo slusali pricu o zivotu Svetog Vasilija Ostroskog. Pripovedana u duhu starih vremena ozivela nam je tog skromnog coveka koji je voleo svoju veru i narod toliko da je postao Svetac. Njegove mosti leze u kivotu pod pokrovom i bivaju celivane svakoga dana bezbroj puta od strane ljudi koji na ovo sveto i cudotvorno mesto dolaze sa svih strana sveta. Mislim da sam videla i ljude drugih vera kako se saginju i ulaze kroz niski otvor u steni.

On our way we listened to the story about St. Vasilije Ostroski`s life. It was narrated in a spirit of old times and it brought to life again that modest man who loved his religion and his people so much that he became The Saint. His relics rests in a small monastery cell and are kissed every day by countless number of people who come from all over the World to this sacred and miraculous place. I am not sure but I think that I saw people of different religions leaning forward and entering through small hole in the rock

If you have a problem you can ask a priest to say a pray, there next to relics, for your salvation and you can also leave a piece of paper with names of persons for which you want a pray for health to be read later.

Posto su me dve osobe zamolile da i za njih ucinim nesto kada budem u kivotu vracala sam se dva puta da uradim po nesto sto sam zaboravila u prethodnim ulascima. I danas razmisljam o ta tri neplanirana uzastopna ulaska. Secam se da sam bila uznemirena da cu nesto od onog sto sam zamoljena da uradim zaboraviti i da necu ispuniti ono sto sam obecala. Ipak uradila sam sve. Kao da je neki nevidljivi zakon reda znao da sam donela sudbine tri razlicite osobe i vodio me kroz tri prolaska.

Since two persons asked me to do something while next to the relics I kept forgetting all the things I was to do. Therefore I had to come back to the cell two more times. I still think of those three unplanned entering to the cell. I remember that I was quite restless that I would forget to do some of the things I was asked to do and that I wouldn`t fulfill my promise. Yet I did it all. It was as some invisible law of order new that I brought destinies of three different persons so it led me through three entering into the holy place.

Manastir ima neobicnu arhitekturu. Prednja fasada je zidana a unutrasnji zid je stena u koju je manastir uklesan.

Na visim spratovima kule mogu se videti freske iz sedamnaestog veka. Pogled sa jedne od terasa oduzima dah.

Monastery has an interesting construction. The front side is built by constructors but the back side is a rock into which the monastery is carved. At the upper floors frescoes from 17^th century can be seen. The view from one of the balconies is breath taking.

U dvoristu manastira neki posetioci provode vreme lezeci na madracima. Citaju knjige, razmisljaju zagledani u nebo i verovatno komuniciraju sa Bogom. Kazu da leti mnogi tu i noce pod zvezdama.

In the monastery yard some people spend time lying on a huge mattresses. They read books, think while observing the sky and probably communicate with God. It`s been told that some of them sleep during summertime here under the stars.

Nekoliko mojih prijatelja posetilo je manastir Ostrog tokom proslih godina i svako od njih, pa cak i ja, doziveo je po neko cudotvorno iskustvo. Ako je neko od vasih prijatelja bio tamo pitajte ga da vam isprica svoj dozivljaj. Sigurna sam da ga je imao. Ako ste ga doziveli i sami volela bih da cujem...

Some of my friends visited monastery Ostrog in recent years. All of them, including me, had a miraculous experience there. If any of your friends was there ask him to tell you about his experience. I am sure he had it. If you had it I would love to hear...

Evo jedne takve price: Pre odlaska pod Ostrog slucajno sam dospela u manastir Svete Trojice koji se nalazi iza aerodrome u Tivtu. Tamo sam upoznala jednu zenu koja zivi u manastiru. Ona mi je ispricala da joj je cerka bila obolela od leukemije. U pokusaju da ucini sve za svoje dete molila je da joj se odobri da dete provede neko vreme u manastiru Ostrog. Nakon nekoliko meseci boravka u manastiru devojka je ozdravila. Ova i slicne price zvuce kao legenda, kao nesto izmedju istine i mita. Ipak kada je ispricana od strane zene koja je danas svoj zivot posvetila Bogu i ceka da se zamonasi... ne mogu drugo do da verujem.

Here is one of those stories: Just before going to Ostrog I visited monastery of Three Saints which was situated behind Tivat airport. I met a woman who lived there. She told me that her daughter got leukaemia. Trying to do everything to cure her child she asked permission for her daughter to stay for some time in the monastery Ostrog. After several months spent there the girl was cured. This story and similar stories sounds like a legend, something between truth and myth. Yet when it`s told by the woman who devoted today her life to a God and waits for permission to become a nun...I cant`s do else but believe.

U povratku posetili smo i donji manastir. Sijao je na suncu beli andjeoski kamen nekim stogodisnjim mirom. Jedna porodica cekala je na krstenje svog deteta. Ja sam sedela na klupi u hladu drveta i pila izvorsku vodu koju sam natocila u dvoristu gornjeg manastira.

On our way back we visited part of Ostrog monastery which is situated couple of kilometres down the road. The white angel stone of the building was shining under the Sun, with some centuries old tranquillity. One family was waiting for baptising of their child. I was sitting on a bench in the shade of a tree and I was drinking water that I took at the stream in the upper monastery.

Ostrog je mesto na koje cete se ako jednom odete, sigurno vracati.

Monastery Ostrog is a place where, if you come once, you will keep coming back
